We are very pleased to announce the launch of the first annual University of East Anglia Model UN Conference. This event will take place on Saturday March 2nd and Sunday March 3rd 2013 at the University of East Anglia. It will be a beginner level conference focusing on the topic of “Rights of the Vulnerable” .
For those of you unfamiliar with Model UN, Model United Nations is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. In Model UN, students step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the organisation’s agenda. While playing their roles ambassadors, student “delegates” make speeches, prepare draft resolutions, negotiate with allies and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the Model UN conference rules of procedure – all in the interest of mobilizing “international cooperation” to resolve problems that affect the whole world.
Model United Nations helps develop essential skills in research, diplomacy, conflict resolution, public speaking and debate. It also provides an excellent way of students working cooperatively and collaboratively with students from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and capabilities.
Each interested particpant may register through the UEA Model UN Website. Application deadline is on the 20th of February. The conference will run from [9:30-5:30] and will be open to all interested students across campus The cost will be £12.00 per delegate and lunch and refreshments will be provided.
