We’re All Very Excited About the New Chief Executive

Jim Dickinson

The Trustee Board of the Union of UEA Students are delighted to announce that Jim Dickinson will be our new Chief Executive and will start on September 2nd.

Jim has been in the student movement for many years; he was elected as the Education Officer for his student’s union at UWE before becoming President the following year. From there he moved to NUS as the Area Convenor for the South West in 2001. Since then, Jim has worked for the NUS and risen through the ranks, with his talent for public speaking and his love of Eurovision notorious throughout the movement.

Jim is currently the Director of Policy and Delivery for NUS and has wide experience of many different student unions and the movement as a whole.

Jim has said: “I couldn’t be any more excited about joining the team at the Union of UEA Students. As well as the well understood social and welfare functions, the union plays a crucial role in supporting UEA’s students to question the world around them, to make a real impact on the world, and to develop skills for their career, and I can’t wait to get to work in September to help our talented elected officers, staff and volunteers maintain and enhance UEA’s renowned reputation for student experience”

The University Registrar and Secretary Brian Summers has also added his congratulations on the appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Jim to UEA and wish him well in his new role. The Union of UEA Students plays a vital role in the life of this university and I look forward to working closely with Jim and his team to continue delivering the number 1 student experience in the country.”

We are all very much looking forward to working with Jim in the future and seeing how the organisation will grow and develop under his leadership.
